My son Garrett has been a supercar fan his entire life. Recently enlisted in the Army, we wanted to do something special for him before he left for basic training. We had talked about doing a supercar driving experience for a while, so now it was time! After researching several companies with driving experiences around the country, Garrett narrowed it down to one—the only one that let you drive an actual race car—Dream Racing. The drive was also on an inner track at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which was super cool as well.
We knew it would be an expensive but quick, less than 10-minute ride, so it had to be worth it. The type of car was the most important, and Garrett was super pumped about driving the Ferrari 488 GT EVO Race Car. It was almost Father’s Day, so I got my husband a drive in a cool Toyota Supra. Not the fancy race car Garrett had, but super fun nonetheless (We kept the car we picked for him as a surprise until we got to the facility).
Arriving at the Race Track
When we drove up to the Dream Racing facility, there were two rows of cars in the front parking lot. Garrett got more and more excited the closer we got. These were GOOD cars. Ferrari 488, Lamborghini Huracan, Porsche GT3RS, Lamborghini Gallardo, Acura NSX, Mercedes AMG GTR, Audi R8, Nissan GT-R, Aston Martin Vantage, Toyota Supra, and more. We drooled and took lots of pics—before we even stepped in the door!
There was definitely excitement in the air. We could see other drivers preparing out in the pit and my boys were ready to drive!
Training and Briefing
The staff and instructors were very welcoming, and the facility was sleek. It was reassuring to be received by such as professional team. They gave us a 5-10 minute coaching session followed by an instructional video on transmission, tires, steering and how to drive on a racetrack.
The Dream Racing training session was both informative and engaging. The classroom briefing covered everything from basic racing lines to advanced braking and acceleration techniques. It was fascinating to learn about the physics behind racing and how small adjustments could significantly impact performance on the track. Garrett, already well-versed in racing principles from his Xbox games, found it validating to see the same techniques applied in a real-world setting.
I was so excited after watching the video that I decided to drive as well! I ran back in and signed up for one of my favorite cars—the Nissan GT3RS.
Garrett was thrilled about actually getting to wear full racing gear: suit and helmet. The process of donning the racing gear added an extra layer of authenticity to the experience—Garrett felt like a professional driver ready to take on the track.
On the Track: The Ultimate Thrill
Before our individual drives, we all rode a lap around the track with the instructor driving. He showed us how a pro drives—I was holding on for dear life! Experiencing the track at high speed with a professional at the wheel provided a firsthand look at advanced racing techniques in action.
Kelvin hopped in his white Supra and enjoyed a quick 5 laps around the track, loving every minute. I was so glad he got the chance to do this alongside G! Such a fun father-son experience.
At the suggestion of the Dream Racing team, we also added a warm-up drive for Garrett which allowed him to get familiar with driving the track before he got in the fancy Ferrari race car. This warm-up session in another of his favorite cars—the Nissan GTR—was crucial in building his confidence and comfort level with the track’s layout and nuances. If you’re going to drive one of the race cars, I would highly suggest the warm-up add-on. It will help get the nerves out and make the following driving experience much better.
Garrett zipped around the track in his GTR for his warm-up, then moved on to the Ferrari.
His first of 7 laps was great—then on the second lap, he came out of a turn too quickly—
—and spun the car around!
Just as he started spinning, he went behind a building and we were so afraid he was going to wreck that million-dollar race car! But shortly here he came zipping around the track again. His instructor said that happens every now and then and complimented Garrett on his skills and knowledge of racing.
Mom and Dad experienced a half moment of heart failure but just like Garrett—recovered quickly.
Next was my turn, and I hopped in my Nissan GT3-Rs, buckled in, and apologized in advance to the instructor for how slow I was going to go.
Instructor Guidance: Expert Support
Our instructors were amazing. They constantly told us what to do—when to brake, when to accelerate, and where to be on the track. I wouldn’t have known what to do without their guidance. I followed every word and did great! The level of personalized attention and real-time feedback from the instructors was invaluable. They ensured that we were not only safe but also able to make the most of our time on the track.
The cars all operate with shifting paddles, which I wasn’t familiar with (Garrett was, of course). I asked my instructor if he could put mine in automatic (I know, lame), and he said sure. But he ended up shifting gears for me the whole time. I asked him at the end if it was in automatic and he said, ”no, that wouldn’t be any fun. I just shifted for you.” So don’t be afraid—the instructors have you! This level of support made the experience accessible and enjoyable, even for those of us who weren’t as familiar with high-performance driving.
Personal Highlights: A Day to Remember
The best part for me was seeing Garrett absolutely loving every single minute we were there. His joy and excitement were contagious, making the day even more special. Sharing this experience as a family, with each of us having our own moments of thrill and achievement, was incredibly bonding.
After the Experience: Lasting Impressions
We all wished we could have driven more. The supercar driving experience was super fun and we can’t wait to do it again! It totally exceeded our expectations. Some of the other racing companies’ reviews were laden with comments about a lot of waiting for a quick ride that wasn’t that great. This was 100% not that! Dream Racing was flawless from start to finish, and we would recommend them to anyone!
Recommendations and Reflections: Tips for Future Adventurers
How Much You’ll Spend
Currently, pricing starts around $299 (5 laps) and goes up to $4599 (40 laps) and varies greatly depending on the car. If you’re a newbie, trust me, the car won’t matter. The very basic one is amazing and performs better than you will! And if you’re a fanatic, get a race car. My son did 7 laps in the Ferrari 488 GT EVO race car and it was an experience he’ll never forget.
What to Wear
It was 110ºF in Las Vegas that day. The facility had great AC for the instruction video, but most of the day was spent on the track. You want to dress comfortably, and they require closed-toed shoes. If you’re going to be driving a race car, you’ll get the full racing suit and helmet (but not to keep—we wish!).
Getting to the Track
Dream Racing offers free shuttle service for the driver and one spectator from the Las Vegas strip (pickup is at The Shops at Crystals), but you have to reserve at least 24 hours ahead of time. We missed that detail so we took a taxi. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is about 3o minutes from the strip so plan accordingly if you’re providing your own transportation. They’re pretty strict about start times, so don’t be late.
Time Spent at the Track
We were there a couple of hours, but not because it took that long. We spent a good amount of time drooling over the cars and taking pics. Figure a 30-40 minute trip each way from downtown, and 2 hours on site.

Reflecting on the day, it was clear that Dream Racing had crafted an experience that balanced excitement, education, and safety perfectly. The meticulous planning and execution ensured that every participant, regardless of their prior experience, could enjoy the thrill of high-performance driving in a controlled and supportive environment.
My grand takeaway from the Dream Racing Supercar Experience?
Book it! Pick a car and go have fun. Don’t be a spectator—drive!
(And by the way—I’d really love to have a GT3-RS in my garage one day. I’m hooked.)
The thrill of driving a supercar on a professional racetrack was beyond words. Each turn, acceleration, and brake was amazing, combining the roar of the engine, the grip of the tires on the asphalt, and the adrenaline rush that comes with high-speed driving. Watching Garrett handle the Ferrari with such enthusiasm, despite the spin-out, made for a day of memories we’ll never forget.
